Cybertruck AWD Just Got $5,000 More Expensive
Tesla raised prices on two Cybertruck trims. The AWD base moves from $69,990 to $74,990 and the Premium AWD moves from $79,990 to $84,990. Both are flat $5,000 increases, roughly 7% each. The Cyberbeast holds at $99,990.
A brief price history worth knowing
The Cybertruck was unveiled in 2019, and the top trim at that time was priced at $69,990. That number is now what the base AWD costs after this increase. And before the current pricing structure, Tesla launched the AWD at $59,990 for a ten-day window when order demand was high (and then moved it up). So depending on when you were paying attention, the AWD base has traveled from $59,990 to $74,990. That's a $15,000 range on a single trim.
Still the market leader
The Cybertruck is still the best-selling all-electric pickup truck on the market. That track record gives Tesla some room to test where the price ceiling sits. The base model includes steer-by-wire, meaning there's no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels. That's not something you find in most trucks at any price point.
But $74,990 for the entry config is real money. One possibility is that demand has been consistent enough that a $5,000 increase won't move the needle on order volume. Whether that assumption holds is a different question.
The Cyberbeast gap narrowed
Worth noting: with the Premium AWD now at $84,990, the spread between that trim and the Cyberbeast is $15,000, down from $20,000 before this change. That might make the Cyberbeast look slightly more reachable by comparison. Or it might not matter much to anyone already shopping at those numbers.
